Transition VMware Tanzu Cloud Services to VMware Tanzu Platform Console New KB article !!
On September 11, 2024, cloud services in the VMware Tanzu portfolio will transition away from VMware Cloud Service to the VMware Tanzu Platform, and customers will access VMware Tanzu cloud services at https://console.tanzu.broadcom.com going forward.  

The cloud services impacted by this change include:

VMware Tanzu Platform (previously named VMware Tanzu Hub)
VMware Tanzu Mission Control
VMware Tanzu Application Catalog
VMware Tanzu Service Mesh
VMware Tanzu Guardrails 

VMware Tanzu Product Security Notice
During last week's discussion on Cloud Foundry Weekly we discussed the potential impact of Crowdstrike and how it would have affected the Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry. 

This last week Crowdstrike released the Crowdstrike Falcon for VMware Tanzu tile for Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry.  This tile installs the Falcon agent on Linux foundations and provides runtime protections normally found with Crowdstrike Falcon. 

The agent currently does not correctly parse the diegocell container name but that is being worked on and will be corrected in a future release. 

If you are a Crowdstrike customer also using TPCF and have questions please contact your account team to set up a meeting with David Zendzian (dmz) the Tanzu Global Field CISO who has been working with Crowdstrike on this tile.

VMware Tanzu Product Releases 
In this section, we will add releases information on Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry, Tanzu Platform for Kubernetes, Tanzu Data Services, and Tanzu Spring Essentials Products that are part of Tanzu Platform and Standalone solutions along with its release date and release notes.

VMware Tanzu Product Security Updates

VMware Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry
Tanzu Operations Manager (Ops Man)

•         This release includes a new version of System Metrics. Apply Changes done after the upgrade will cause all VMs to re-deploy.
•         [Feature] Clean out logs of OpsMan images
•         Updated versions and dependent components:
  
  •         Jammy Stemcell, BBR SD, BOSH Director, System Metrics, CredHub, CredHub Maestro, Syslog, Windows Syslog, UAA, BPM, BOSH CLI, Telemetry, Core Consumption

GenAI on Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry

•         GenAI on Tanzu Platform is currently in beta and is intended for evaluation and test purposes only. Do not use in a production environment.
•         Adds initial support for logging and metrics.
•         Adds support for floating Stemcell versions which allows the tile to pick the most recent ubuntu-jammy stemcell available in Tanzu Operations Manager.
•         No known limitations at time of release.
•         No known exploitable CVEs at time of release.

VMware Tanzu Platform for Kubernetes
VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition (TKGI)

•         Updated versions and dependent components:
  
  •         Containerd, CoreDNS, Harbor, Kubernetes, NCP, UAA, Jammy Stemcell, Windows stemcell
•         The supported upgrade paths to Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition v1.19.2 are from TKGI v1.19.1 and and from v1.18.4 and earlier v1.18 patches.
•         TKGI v1.19.2 does not include any new breaking changes.
•         TKGI v1.19.2 does not include any new features.
•         ​​TKGI v1.19.2 does not include any new known issues.
•         curl bump to v8.8.0 in TKGI NSX packaging fixes information disclosure vulnerability CVE-2023-46219.
•         Management console update Photon OS 4 patch version for Management Console VM to address CVE-2024-6387.

VMware Tanzu Data Solutions
VMware Tanzu Greenplum® 

•         The Greenplum package utility gppkg has been updated to version 2.2.1.
•         Resolves a file leak issue caused by the initplan function.
•         You currently cannot upgrade from a previous major version of Greenplum to Greenplum 7.
•         VMware VMware Greenplum 7 deprecates the following features:
  
  •         gpreload utility is replaced by ALTER TABLE ... REPACK BY.

VMware Tanzu RabbitMQ® for Kubernetes & VMware Tanzu RabbitMQ® OVA

•         The current VMware Tanzu RabbitMQ release is 3.13 (the latest patch release is 3.13.6). For users who are currently using 1.5 releases, note that 3.13 is the next release after 1.5. This is different from the expectation that the next release would be 1.6. The reason for this change is to align product version numbers between open source RabbitMQ and commercial VMware Tanzu RabbitMQ product versions.
•         Open-source RabbitMQ version 3.13.6 is a maintenance release in 3.13.x.

VMware Tanzu RabbitMQ® for Tanzu® Application Service™

•         Inter-node TLS is now compatible with Erlang 26.
•         Warm Standby Replication successfully connects when multiple endpoints are configured.
•         Service Instances can be created with Service Gateway and OAuth2 simultaneously enabled.

VMware Tanzu Platform Spring Essentials
Spring Cloud Gateway for VMware Tanzu

•         Please do not upgrade to v2.1.4 or v2.1.5
  
  •         Spring Cloud Gateway for VMware Tanzu v2.1.4 and v2.1.5 are affected by a TLS certificate configuration issue which prevents successful installation. Please avoid upgrading to these versions.
•         Resolved security vulnerability: CVE-2024-22262 (spring-web)
