We have some exciting updates to share with TAS customers who have enrolled in the telemetry program. The weekly platform telemetry and CVE reports historically sent as PDFs and CSVs via email have been moved to Incorta, offering a dynamic and interactive experience for customers.

Why switch to Incorta?

●        Interactive Format: Dive deeper to view and learn more about your TAS foundations with interactive dashboards and visualizations.
●        Enhanced User Experience: Quickly navigate through multiple dashboards with an intuitive interface, and easily download insights either as a CSV/XLSX/PDF report.
●        Real-time Insights: View and access the latest foundation related updates and information regarding CVEs instantly, without having to wait for weekly emails.

VMware Tanzu Product Releases 
In this section , we will add releases information on Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry, Tanzu Platform for Kubernetes, Tanzu Data Services, and Tanzu Spring Essentials Products that are part of Tanzu Platform and Standalone solutions along with its release date and release notes.  

VMware Tanzu Product Security Updates
Within the release notes there may be security or governance specific updates that are worth highlighting.  The Tanzu Security team reviews each release and summarizes security or governance specific highlights found within the release notes.

VMware Tanzu Platform for Kubernetes- Security Updates
VMware Tanzu Application Platform (TAP)
The latest release, 1.8.4, has multiple security fixes for the following packages

●        application-configuration-service: 4 CVE patched
●        base-jammy-stack-lite: 90 CVE patched
●        cert-manager: 3 CVE patched
●        cnrs: 6 CVE patched
●        dotnet-core-lite.buildpacks: 2 CVE patched
●        git-writer.component.apps: 96 CVE patched
●        java-lite.buildpacks: 3 CVE patched
●        service-registry.spring.apps: 11 CVE patched
●        source.component.apps: 153 CVE patched
●        sso.apps: 2 CVE patched
●        supply-chain-catalog: 94 CVE patched
●        supply-chain-apps: 1 CVE patched

There are several known issues with v1.8.4 release, especially if using different scanners for recurring scans vs default scans.  Please read the full release notes to understand the current known issues with Tanzu Application Platform.  

Release v1.7.8 has similar know issues as 1.8.4 but a smaller subset of CVEs patched:

●        base-jammy-stack-lite: 90 CVE patched
●        cert-manager: 2 CVE patched
●        java-lite-buildpacks: 9 CVE patched
●        ootb-templates: 6 CVE patched 

Release 1.6.12 has the same known issues as 1.7.8 and 1.8.4 with the following package updates:

●        base-jammy-stack-lite: 90 CVE patched
●        cert-manager: 2 CVE patched
●        oot-templates: 234 CVE patched 

Other Tanzu Platform Services - Security Updates
VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition (TKGI)

●        TKGI v1.18.4 does not include any new breaking changes.
●        No TKGI features have been deprecated or removed from TKGI v1.18.
●        Cluster update retry setting: Ops Manager TKGI tile > TKGI API > Automatic retry on cluster update operations failure option sets TKGI to retry tkgi update-cluster process up to three times if it fails, to improve resilience. 

Other Releases - Security Updates
IPsec for VMware Tanzu

●        Maintenance change
●        Renamed openssl package to avoid package name collision
●        Fixes compatibility with Redis for VMware Tanzu Application Service

Transition to Broadcom and timeline Knowledge article Updated

●        Tanzu Network to Broadcom’s Customer Support Portal Transition and Timeline Information  - Starting on June 24th 2024, all on-premise Tanzu products will be distributed on Broadcom's Customer Support Portal. In the past, Tanzu products were distributed on either VMware Customer Connect or Tanzu Network. The cutover details from prior systems to Broadcom are detailed in this KB, including our support for automation related to product discovery, upgrade planning, and consumption.
