• Enabling Spring Security on app fails health check  -  You can turn on security on your app by simply adding this configuration on your Spring application , but this configuration app fails on health check. Check KB for resolution.
• TAS Smoke Test are failing with ruby buildpack version v1.9.0+ - In buildpack v1.8.60, Ruby 2.7.x is the default version, In buildpack v1.9.0+, Ruby 3.1.x appears to be the new default causing TAS smoke tests to fail. R&D is working on the fix and check workaround in the KB.

VMware vSphere 7.0 with Tanzu (TKGS)

• vmware-system-user account expired on TKGS Guest Cluster nodes (90469) - Users are unable to connect via SSH directly to TKGS Guest Cluster nodes using vmware-system-user account. Check KB for resolution.
• CSI: Correct sync between CSI pod secret and workload_storage_management user password (87375) -  TKGS Guest Clusters or Supervisor Clusters fail to create or attach PersistentVolumes or PersistentVolumeClaims to new nodes or pods.

VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG)

• TKG management cluster not able to connect to vCenter after vCenter cert or thumbprint change (90489) -  vCenter certificate thumbprint has changed and not been updated on the TKG management cluster objects and/or in the workload cluster object's metadata. Check KB article for resolution.

• Compliance Scanner for VMware Tanzu is not compatible with NSX-T Dedicated Tier-1 Topology - Currently Compliance Scanner for VMware Tanzu doesn't support NSX-T Dedicated Tier-1 Topology. In order to use Compliance Scanner features in the NSX-T environment, Shared Tier-1 topology is recommended.

VMware Application Catalog (VAC)

In July 2022, the user interface (UI) of VMware Application Catalog was merged with VMware Marketplace to simplify access for users. We have since realized, based on feedback from our customers, that the original design of having individual UIs for VMware Marketplace and VMware Application Catalog was the best approach. So, starting December 15, 2022, users will once again be able to directly access VMware Application Catalog from the VMware Cloud Services portal without having to go through VMware Marketplace. This change does not affect the functionality or the performance of VMware Application Catalog in any way, and the product inherently remains the same.

VMware Application Catalog extends support to JFrog Container Registry

• Dec 7th Update : Added support for installing Helm charts

You can now install Helm charts to your clusters through Tanzu Mission Control. After you enable Helm service on your cluster, you can use the Catalog page to install a Helm chart (create a release) from the Bitnami repository. • OM fails to login after AWS Elastic IP changes - If you do not use a Hostname and use an Elastic IP address when configuring Ops Manager on AWS, you can run into a situation when the Elastic IP address changes and UAA fails to login due to the callback URL changing

VMware Tanzu Application Platform (TAP)

• Installation of policy controller fails with error "Failed to initialize TUF client from : updating local metadata and targets: error updating to TUF remote mirror: tuf: invalid key" - After TAP 1.3.0 is installed, TAP fails to start and TAP-GUI is inaccessible. Check the resolution and workaround in the article.

VMware Tanzu Application Services for VMs (TAS)

• Deploying app with large artifact failed with "500 Internal Server Error" - When pushing an application with large artifact to TAS using internal WebDAV as file storage, it failed with "500 Internal Server Error". Check resolution in the article.
• "Error: Metric Store error" is shown in App Metrics UI - Error: Metric Store error was shown in App Metrics UI within a few minutes of accessing the dashboard as well as some red graphs. The issue exists in Metric Store v1.5.2 and earlier releases and fixed in 1.5.3+

VMware Gemfire
VMware licensing terms have been updated with this release. Until you accept the new VMware General Terms by downloading any 9.15.3 artifact and 9.10.17  from network.tanzu.vmware.com, your automated processes using docker pull or Pivnet cli will be unable to download. Product Issue Awareness

VMware Tanzu Application Services (TAS)

Java Buildpack 4.52 Deprecation of Spring Cloud Connectors & Spring Auto Reconfiguration
 

Impacted Product versions

TAS versions 2.11.28, 2.12.18, or 3.0.0. These versions of TAS contain java-offline-buildpack version 4.52.  The release notes for these versions have been updated to indicate the breaking change.
 

Issue

It changes the default behavior of Spring Auto Reconfiguration. Deploying applications that rely on this capability may break silently.
 

Resolution

A new Java buildpack 4.53 reverts this behavior so that Spring Auto Reconfiguration is no longer disabled by default.

• Percona-XtraDB-Cluster prohibits use of DML command on a table - In VMware Tanzu™ SQL with MySQL for VMs, the value of pxc-strict-mode is set as MASTER by default, when no primary key assigned for a table causing error. Check the KB article.
• Manual Mysql backup fails with too many open files - Failure during  manually backup of MySQL service instance and resolution.

• MessageTooLongException/ MessageTooLargeException - GemFire fails to send messages due to MessageTooLargeException . Check Symptoms and resolution.
• GemFire: How to avoid pitfalls of split brain: Do NOT use less than 3 Cache Servers!! - GemFire Distributed systems using 2 Locators with 2 Cache Servers are not recommended. This is especially true when the locators are on the same hosts, or vulnerable to the same potential infrastructure issues that could negatively impact the Cache Servers.

• kubectl vsphere login fails with "Failed to get available workloads: bad gateway" - When trying to connect to Supervisor clusters as Active Directory User, kubectl login fails.

• “Missing stemcell” shown for BOSH Director tile after upgrading Ops Manager to v2.10.46+ - There is a bug in Ops Manager versions prior to 2.10.46 that if the stemcell is upgraded first, then upgrading Ops Manager to a version that does not include that stemcell would fail. A fix is implemented in Ops Manager 2.10.46.
• How to add or modify my availability zones without the need to reinstall Tanzu Application Services - This article describes the process to go through if you need to change your availability zone configuration after the initial install.
• How to configure Alertmanager in Helathwatch2 to sent an alert to multiple receivers - Sometimes users may have configured multiple receivers for Alertmanager on Healthwatch2 Settings page. And it's expected that an alert could be sent to all the configured receivers at the same time.

• Fail to execute CF commands with error "This command requires Network Policy API V1. Your targeted endpoint does not expose it." returned - After switching CF-CLI version, especially when CF-CLI v6 is involved, it may fail to execute network-policy related commands including "cf network-policies" and "cf add-network-policy".

VMware Tanzu Application Platform(TAP)

• Migration from using CNR contour to TAP contour - CNR v2.0 will no longer ship with Contour. This means that CNR will not be usable without a compatible ingress provider (Contour only at this moment) already installed on the cluster.

VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated (TKGI)

• Numerous pods show Liveness and Readiness probe failed due to "connect: connection refused" and Kubelet showing "Error: No such container:" - Multiple pods began to crash on specific node(s) due to liveness/readiness probe errors.
• TKGI Tile in Tanzu Ops Manager shows "Missing Stemcell" and Stemcell Library shows Windows stem cell required. No Windows-based clusters are deployed. - TKGI Tile shows "Missing Stemcell". Checking the Stemcell Library, it shows that a Windows Stemcell is required and "IMPORT STEMCELL" radio button. And this is not expected.
• TKGI Management Console reports "Failed to retrieve current TKGI Instance clusters. cannot get TKGI client: cannot login into TKGI: Post https://ADDRESS:8443/oauth/token: x509: certificate has expired or is not yet valid" (89807) - To provide the steps for rotating the TKGI API certificate when using the TKGI Management Console

• If prometheus scrape_interval is set to 1m, some metrics (e.g.SyslogAgent_LossRate_1M) will not return data in Grafana UI - In the Prometheus pane of a Healthwatch for VMware Tanzu tile, scrape_interval specifies the frequency at which you want the Prometheus instance to scrape Prometheus exposition endpoints for metrics and its default value is 15s. Some users may increase this default value which leads to the failure of retrieval of data on Grafana UI. Read the article for complete details

Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG)

• Disable accelerated networking on the Tanzu Kubernetes grid management clusters and workload clusters on Azure (87629) - TKG 1.3.0 cluster could not scale due to accelerated networking being enabled on Azure VM's of the cluster. Check the workaround in this article.

Tanzu Network Users - Be aware of this important upcoming EULA changes

All Products to move to VMware General terms on the next new release (MAJOR OR MINOR).

To cause the least amount disruption to current customer workflows, the NEW EULA will be named VMware General Terms with doc slug vmware_general_terms .We will keep the old universal EULA as it is with the name VMware software EULA with the old doc slug vmware_eula. Existing releases which have been published will still be tied to the old Universal EULA.

Customers:

• Customers will have to accept the VMware General Terms when consuming new major releases with VMware General Terms attached (expected behavior)
• Customers will have to re-accept, now the VMware General Terms, when existing releases are changed to attach to VMware General Terms

API/Pivnet CLI Impact: Customers

• When consuming a new release or an old release with the new VMware General Terms attached, customers can expect to see EULA missing errors. They will have to login and manually accept the EULA through UI and re-try their automation.

Bosh resurrector not working after deleting a resurrection config (89164) - Resurrection will not kick in after deleting the resurrection config file. A fix is in progress for the upcoming BOSH director version. Check the workaround in this article.

VMware Tanzu Application Services(TAS) and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated (TKGI)

Slab memory leak on Ubuntu Xenial stemcells - versions 621.241 and higher

Issue

Slab memory leak has been observed on TAS and TKGi environments utilizing Ubuntu Xenial stemcell versions 621.241 and higher. This issue may result in intermittent unresponsive VM's.

Cause

This problem has not been seen on all TAS and TKGi foundations but rather only ones with certain characteristics (BOSH add-ons, specific application workloads).

Resolution

If the problem began after a stemcell upgrade, then current remediation recommendations is to rollback stemcell (to 621.240 or lower) to earlier version. Check the above article for complete details and recommendations.

‘Invalid string '*' in TKG_NO_PROXY’ error when upgrade TKG cluster to TKG 1.6
If customer has * in TKG_NO_PROXY when installing previous TKG versions Eg:- TKG 1.5.4, when they upgrade management cluster or workload cluster to TKG 1.6, they will also run into the above error. The KB article has a cause and workaround.

Issue

Customer applications may experience thread hangs when closing socket connections to a GemFire cluster under following conditions

• Oracle JDK version 8 update 261 or newer
• GemFire versions prior to 9.15.0
• TLS v1.3

The issue is caused by a lock synchronization bug described in the Oracle bug system
